Lyme Testing

The detection of lyme disease has always been difficult, the utilization of previous tests many times resulted in false negatives, which added additional confusion to an already challenging condition.  Our staff of professionals have worked together for many years and are committed to the following practices, ideals, and procedures:

  • State-of-the-art testing methodology;

·         Rapid turn-around-time in most cases 48 hours

·         Customized testing analysis based on medical history

There is no one test available for the detection of Lyme disease, each test analyzing varying aspects of the condition with unreliable degrees of accuracy.  New research has assisted in the development of cutting edge lyme tests with far greater accuracy.  Our testing professionals provide cutting edge lyme testing with quicker results than most facilities.

·         PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) test

The PCR test detects genetic material of the bacteria associated with Lyme disease. PCR testing is very sensitive in the detection of Borrelia burgdorferi and can be testing on varying samples.

·         Antigen Detection

Both the Reverse Western Blot and Lyme Dot Blot Assays are immunoassays, which specifically react to Borrelia burgdorferi antibodies through Lyme antigen detection in the urine.

We also offer standard Lyme tests below, but due to low detection rates, we recommend that these tests be used in conjunction with testing from the above list.

·         ELISA Lyme Antibody

The ELISA (Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) test detects antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi, signifying exposure to lyme.  Many times this test is confirmed with a Western Blot.

·         Lyme Western Blot

The Western Blot indicates exposure to Borrelia burgdorferi, through antibody response.   The test is a more accurate test than the ELISA, with earlier detection of a week after exposure, However it is used most often to detect chronic Lyme.

Due to the strong correlation between an increased prevalence of Lyme and other immune disorders, we recommend that persons suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Lupus, and other conditions with immune dysfunction, test or retest with current Lyme tests.
